We were shocked and saddened to hear about Rick passing. The lovely obituary simply and accurately reflects who Rick was. We saw Rick first and foremost as a family man! We always enjoyed our encounters with Rick and especially enjoyed time with Cindy and Rick in Florida on a few occasions. You could always depend on Rick to offer his well thought out opinion, interesting and honest conversation, and he loved to have fun! We also knew Rick as a dedicated, long-term employee of Shell Canada. Our favourite uncle, a hard-nosed former WWII flying ace (and raised in Oil Springs) hired Rick at Shell Canada. At one of our family gatherings long ago our uncle asked if we knew Rick. He spoke of Rick’s intelligence, his hard work ethic and his personal integrity. Having our uncle’s respect was quite a feather in Rick’s cap. We are sending our sincere and deepest sympathies to Cindy, Lee, Tyler and the rest of the family. May your precious memories keep him close at heart. Rick will be dearly missed by you and all that knew and loved him.
Cindy and family.
