IMG 0094Jeanne ELLENOR

June 6, 1924 – December 16, 2025

Age: 101 yrs. Jeanne passed peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Bear Creek Terrace Nursing Home, Petrolia. She joins her husband Edgar and daughter Sandra (Stan Woynarski) who predeceased her in 1988 and 2018, respectively. She leaves behind her beloved family comprising son Doug and wife Jo-Anne, their two children Michael (Jo-Anna Buzek) who reside in Waterloo and Alison (Paul Zerafa), living in Queensland, Australia. In turn the Zerafa’s have two great-grandchildren Zachary and Zoe. The Woynarski family live in Saskatchewan and comprise son-in-law Stan, grandson Dan, and great-grandsons Hayden and Connor.

Jeanne was raised, married, and reared her family in the same house in Brigden as she was raised. Also, she was an active participant in the local Women’s Institute branch, becoming its president at one point. She was also active for years in the Lung Association. She even worked for a spell as a furniture sales person in downtown Brigden. She enjoyed leather working, bowling with Edgar, and playing cards especially cribbage and euchre. Family visits always included spirited encounters at the card table. Some years after Edgar’s death, she decided the family home was too big for her alone, and she moved to the big city. Jeanne had always been an active church goer. Sunday services in the little white church at Kimball were not to be missed, nor were the potluck dinners held in the basement. But after the move to Sarnia her faith and commitment to the church community seemed to grow even stronger and she plunged into church activities with zeal and gusto. Her sense of service was such that she was eventually called to be a lay minister, who led the community for some years. She just seemed to get a new lease on life which might explain why she lived to celebrate 101yrs! Jeanne touched the lives of many, not the least of which, were her family. We miss her already, but we know that she is “leavin’ something behind” – an example of service that all can strive to emulate. God Bless You, Mom!

In lieu of flowers, you are encouraged to make donations to the Lung Association (www.lung.ca), MS Society (www.mssociety.ca) or one of your own choosing.

A Celebration of Life will be held in early Spring (late March-early April 2026). Details to follow.

Condolence (1)

  1. To Jeanne’s family, what a life she lead! She was one of the first people I met upon moving to Brigden in 1976. She encouraged me to join Women’s Institute and we became friends. She encouraged everyone to be their best and showed compassion to those who were in need of kindness to be shown to them.
She leaves behind a legacy her family can be so proud of. My condolences.
