Gibbings, Mike

August 18, 1958 ~ February 14, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Gibbings on February 14, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband and best friend of Christine for 35 years. Loving father of Troy (Emily) and Aaron (Dandy). Cherished Papa to Owen, Claire, Lennon and Miller. Mike will be sadly missed by his mother Mary (predeceased by father, Ken) Gibbings, dear brother to Deb (John) Preston, Brenda (Randy) Sowerby, Jeff Gibbings, Tony (Lisa) Gibbings and brother-in-law Elgin (predeceased by his sister, Nancy Dearing). Son-in-law to Robert and Marie Martus, brother-in-law to Julie (predeceased by Paul) Tannahill, Gail Martus, Bob Martus, and Cindy (John) Gray. Mike will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Happily retired after working for 35 years at Hydro One, and an active member of the Wyoming Lions Club, Mike proudly served the surrounding communities. Sports played a large part of Mike’s life, in all aspects. He enjoyed working with his hands, but woodworking was his specialty. Mike loved travelling and spending all his time with family and friends. Mike will be missed by all who knew him.

Most of my favourite memories growing up include the Gibbings family. Mike was always so happy with the best smile and infectious laugh. One of my favourite memories of Mike when I was a kid was when he showed up at our door with a ring I had lost in his front yard. He went searching with a metal detector for my very inexpensive ring because I was upset I had lost it on New Years Eve right after getting it for Christmas. This is just one small example of how big Mike’s heart was. He will be so greatly missed by everyone. Love always Kailyn, Trevor & Logan King
