Gould, Bob

September 02, 1957 ~ October 9, 2026

PictureGOULD, Robert “Bob”– It is with unimaginable sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Gould of Petrolia on October 9, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia, after a very brief illness. Beloved husband of Janice (nee Piggott) for 45 years. Proud Father of Todd (Ashley), Blair (Jennifer), and Dayna (Joe) De Boer. Fun-loving Grandpa of Ella, Ruby, Charlotte, Tess, Hannah De Boer and Chloe De Boer. Dear brother of Gord (Kathy) and Jim (Karen). Brother-in-law to Elaine (Tom) Dobbin, Bob Piggott, and Larry (Maureen) Piggott. Survived by many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by parents Orville and Gertrude (Cowan) Gould. Bob always left a lasting impression and will be missed by all who knew him. His love of sports was obvious from an early age; there was not a sport he didn’t enjoy. From playing hockey in the NHL for over 10 years to fastball and golf with friends and family, he enjoyed every minute. His passion for hockey took him to the University of New Hampshire, Calgary, Washington, and Boston. He made lifelong friends everywhere he went. Bob shared his knowledge of hockey over the years as a dedicated coach with many different teams. After retiring from professional hockey, Bob, Janice and the kids moved back to Lambton County to a farm outside of Oil Springs. He entered into teaching and taught for 24 years at Riverview Central School then LCCVI. Bob loved being in the stands, on the sidelines, rinkside, or in the audience watching whatever activity his granddaughters chose to do. His granddaughters could convince him to do just about anything, from an extra treat, to building sandcastles, to endless games of I Spy and Hide-and-Go-Seek. We will miss him deeply, but will cherish all the happy memories we have made over the years.

A private family graveside service will take place. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Bob’s Life on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 4pm to 8pm at Wyoming Fairgrounds, 595 Main Street, Wyoming.
