HUZEVKA, Božka “Betty”. – Following a lengthy battle with cancer our beloved Božka (Betty) Huzevka has passed away on November 11, at the age of 81. Betty was the matriarch of her family, the pillar that upheld and uplifted us, a woman of impeccable character and strength. Betty was born in Puchov-Hostina Czechoslovakia, and emigrated to Canada in 1989 with her family. She managed to learn English, acquire a stable job, and provide for herself and her children, demonstrating the spirit of perseverance and determination to her daughters, and grandchildren. In retirement Betty’s home was always warm and well-kept, ready to host any of her friends or family for any occasion or just a random visit. She held strong values, and was fiercely independent even in her old age until her cancer became too much, when she ultimately knew she could no longer shoulder the weight of everything on her own. Still, in her time of sickness, she demonstrated love, compassion, and strength, a gift she emparted onto her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty overcame so much adversity and anyone who met her knew she still had a kind heart and beautiful soul despite life’s trials and tribulations. She is survived by her sister (Anna), her daughters (Jana, Iveta, Jarka), her grandchildren (Lucie, Jana, Jarka, Nicholas, Joshua), and her great grandchildren (Zackarius, Nela, Viki, Sofie, Marcella, Amie, Luka). While we are deeply saddened by this loss, we take great comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain, and is reunited with so many loved ones. Love you Babička, forever.
