My condolences to Doug’s family. I worked with Doug for many years at Shell and always enjoyed his sense of humor. We shared lots of laughs during our early years when Doug was a process operator and I was shift worker in the Steam Plant. Later on we both worked together as pipefitters for the rest of our time at Shell. And, Doug’s sense of humor still always kept us entertained! Sorry to read of Doug’s passing.
Doug was the father-in-law of my youngest sister Sandy Kirkbride, wife of Darren. Doug always laughed easily, throwing his head back. He was a joy to be around at our large family bbq’s and holiday parties. He will be greatly missed by all of us and has lived a long and enjoyable life.
Doug was a visitor at the back often after his retirement, i really enjoyed working with him and having him visit us Process Shift Supervisors in the evenings. He always made life better and you could feel his energy in the room. My condolences to his family and friends on Doug’s passing but please know he made my life richer for knowing him.
the last time I saw you, we said “see you later” and I’m holding onto that.
Because you were never just a “step” anything to me. From the moment I met you, you were my grandpa.
You welcomed me with a big hug and a “HOW YOU DOING SWEETIE?” every single time — and I can hear it now.
You served in the Navy back in England, traveled the world, and somehow still found magic in the simple things — like sitting on your balcony with your binoculars, logging ships on the St. Clair River like they were old friends.
You had a wicked sense of humour, a fire in your spirit, and a heart big enough to love without limits.
I didn’t get to say goodbye… but maybe that’s okay.
Maybe “see you later” was enough
Sending my condolences friend and former neighbour

Doug was such a great guy. Always a funny story to tell with a twinkle in his eye. He loved his kitties❤️
Sorry to hear about Doug’s passing. Condolences to the family. I worked with Doug at Shell. He was a great guy and could always make me laugh with this pranks and joking around. He bought a blue Dodge truck from me, thinks it was 1984, always telling me how he loved it….Ted Paluch
