Law, Leonore Louise

October 12, 1926~February 19, 2018

LAW, Leonore Louise (McGuire) – It is with great sadness, but also deep gratitude for a life well lived, that the family of Leonore announces her passing in her 92nd year at C.E.E Bluewater Health, Petrolia on February 19, 2018 with family by her side. She was able to live comfortably in her own house until one day before her passing, which was her wish. Leonore was predeceased by her loving husband Martyn and her parents Jack and Jessie McGuire. Also predeceased by her brothers Morley (Helen) McGuire, Gerald (Donna) McGuire, sister Margaret (Glen) Stevens, also brothers-in-law John Williams and Murray Law and great-granddaughter Chloe Reagan Winder. Survived by her beloved younger sister Linda, and her children Stephanie, Melanie, and Todd and sister-in-law Helen McGuire. Leonore is survived by her children Dana (James) Churchill and Debara (Joe) Winder. Grandmother to Brent and Matt (Deb) Winder, Tara (Erik) Macdonald, Megan (Casey) Virtue. Great grandmother to Caleb and Avery Winder, Lizzie and Jack Macdonald and Poppy Virtue. Leonore was well known and in her very young years was involved in helping the war effort. She was a fashion designer in her own right, sewing for her children and later turning that line of fashion into retail. Owning Leonore’s Fashions and Law Wilson Dominion Hardware in Petrolia for many years. While loving her community she became very active with the then current BIA and was instrumental in the very first Christmas Decorations placed on main street light posts in Petrolia. She was involved in organizing, planning and implementing many fund raisers for churches; VPP/Victoria Hall; Steam Thresher’s Reunion; and the local plowing match. Mostly involved with St. Paul’s United Church in Petrolia’s special events such as the Christmas Bazars; Victorian Teas; Spring Fling and Wedding Vow Renewals Fashion Show. Mom was blessed with many talents, an artist, painting with oils, floral and interior design. In her younger days she loved to travel, and as she aged her focus was on family, friends and having a great laugh. She was so very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will truly be missed by all.
