McKELLAR, Harriet Edith – The family of Harriet Edith McKellar (Young) (Weese) of Brigden, Ontario is saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at C.E.E. Hospital in Petrolia, Ontario at the age of 94. She is predeceased by her husbands Donald Young (1982) and Ross McKellar (1999), and Ross’ daughter Linda. Harriet is survived by her son Brad (Tami) Young, grandsons Justin (Olja Važić) Young and Reid (Vanessa) Young and great-grandson Garrett Young, as well as Ross’ children Carol, Terry, and Barb, and grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Marlene Young and Doreen Lambert, as well as many nieces and nephews. Harriet was well-respected in Brigden for her over 30 years of service with the Brigden United Co-op. The family would like to extend its sincerest thank you to the staff of Albany Retirement Village, with special thanks to Amanda and Lesley, to Dr. John Butler and the Central Lambton Family Health Team, and to the staff of C.E.E. Hospital for their compassionate care.

Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held at STEADMAN BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, BRIGDEN. A private family graveside will take place at Bear Creek Cemetery.

Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Brigden United Church, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 635 Brigden or Lady Martha Rebekah Lodge in Brigden.

  14. Deepest sympathies to Harriett’s entire family. My earliest memories of her was her working at the co-op when I’d go with my grandma Armstrong to get her eggs candled. Her smile so sweet and genuine. Many wonderful memories of special Brigden.

  17. So sorry to hear of the passing of such a kind private but a women that could always share a smile. Worked with her in the Co op days long ago. ALWAYS remember her at the desk by the back window. ALWAYS will remember the day the car drove through the front of the store and Harriott seemed to fly off her chair and left the desk in awe.

    I got to know Harriet when she would come into Heather Haugh’s restaurant. She
    came in quite frequent. Harriet always smiled at you in a way
    that she was happy to see you and spoke to you like you “mattered”
