Pettit, Bernice Carol (nee Rodd)

1931 ~ 2021

Bernice Carol Pettit (nee Rodd) – Peacefully at Bluewater Health, C.E.E., Petrolia Hospital on March 22, 2021 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of Alex Pettit. Loving mother of Steve Pettit (Helen) and Chris Pettit (Beckkie). Grandmother of Chelsee Pettit (Will), Kierstynn Pettit (Nick), Ashleigh Pettit (Journee), and Ted Pettit.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Ted and Mildred Rodd (née Maness). Bernice grew up in Bluewater and on River Road, along the St. Clair River at Aamijwnaang, where she attended elementary school before attending S.C.I.T.S. Secondary School in Sarnia. Bernice worked at Ethyl Corp. and Niagara Finance before taking on her full-time job at home caring for her family in Sarnia. She was remarkably even-tempered during the years that she spent raising her two sons. During the winter months she could often be found cheering for her sons at their hockey games. Later, she regularly attended and cheered for her granddaughters at their soccer and basketball games. She and Alex moved to their home in Bright’s Grove in 1983, where they enjoyed their lakefront view. In recent years she most enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren and their families. She will be dearly missed.
