Sinclair, Joan

January 6, 1942 ~ April 29, 2024

SINCLAIR, Helen “Joan” Elizabeth – With profound gratitude, we celebrate the life of Joan Sinclair. Joan passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024 surrounded by family at the age of 82. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Tom Sinclair. Joan is also survived by her siblings Jeanne, Ross, Larry and Marion, siblings-in-law Jim, Florence and John, children Bonnie, Kathy (Mark), and Tom (Nancy), grandchildren Ricky (Crystal), Brittany (Steve), Brianne (Jace), Kaitlyn (Matthew), Courtney (Tyler), Cami (TJ), and Bailey (Adam), great-grandchildren Lochlan, Everett, Olivia, Evan, Keely, Riley, and Lilly, and grand-dogs Stanley and Blaze. Joan is predeceased by her parents Clifford and Ferne, parents-in-law John and Patricia, sisters Joyce and Janice, sister-in-law Jean, and granddaughter Kristy Hyatt.

Joan was born and raised in Petrolia. She met Tom and they were married in 1960. They moved to Oil City and built their life there. Joan worked from a young age for Rudy Krall & Sons, and later in life at Shoppers Drug Mart in Petrolia, but her favourite job was being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed shopping, watching soap operas, socializing and walking. She is remembered by her ability to light up a room and bring a smile to everyone in it. She loved deeply and lived vivaciously. Joan joins her beloved Kristy in heaven.

The family would like to thank the staff at North Lambton Lodge for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be held at Steadman Brothers Funeral Home in Brigden on Thursday, May 2 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and a funeral will be held on Friday May 3 at 11:00 a.m. A burial will follow at Oil City Cemetery.

To celebrate and honour Joan’s life, memorial donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Southwestern Ontario (www.psso.ca) and the Alzheimer’s Society of Sarnia-Lambton (www.alzheimer.ca/sarnialambton/en).
