rsz_smith_pic2SMITH, Myrtle Mae (nee McKellar) – Of Moore Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Marshall Gowland Manor, Sarnia, surrounded by her loving family, in her 100th year (born July 17, 1914). Wife of the late Lloyd Smith (1974). Cherished mother of Oliver (Janet) Smith of Moore Township and Elsie (Don) Lumley of Corunna. Survived by special sister-in-law Ina McKellar. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren; Dianna Mae (Doug) Hus of London, Stafford (Jade) Lumley of British Columbia, Brenda Lee (Paul) Toner of Corunna, David (Pam) Smith of Camlachie and Douglas Smith of Watford. She was very proud of her nine great-grandchildren; Josh and Brianne Hus, Royal, Pearl and Löv Lumley, Julia and Jenna Toner, Amelia and Carson Smith. Myrtle is predeceased by her parents Peter and Eva McKellar, brother Ross McKellar, sister Ada (Leroy Bruton) (Verne) Robbins. Myrtle was born in Sarnia but spent most of her life in Moore Township as a proud farmer’s wife. She belonged to the Mayflower Rebekah Lodge No. 324, the Moore Centre Women’s Institute, Knox-Moore Ladies Aid and L.E.A. and L.A.P.M. Sarnia for many years. Many thanks for all the kindness and care given to our mom at Marshall Gowland Manor in the Iris Wing.

VISITATION
Family and friends will be received at STEADMAN BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, Brigden on Monday, May 26, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00pm.

LODGE MEMORIAL SERVICE
A Mayflower Rebekah Lodge No. 324 Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 6:00pm.

FUNERAL SERVICE
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11:00am from the funeral home. Interment to follow at Moore Union Cemetery, Mooretown. Rev. Margaret Bell officiating.

DONATIONS
Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Lambton County Developmental Services or Knox-Moore Presbyterian Church.

Our sons John and Todd used to deliver the Sarnia Observer to the Apartment Building where she lived and she always let them in every day to deliver in her building. She was a lovely lady of good Moore Township stock. She will be missed by everyone that knew her>

  6. Dear Oliver and Janet, So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother Oliver. Despite her age you likely felt that she’d be with you forever. We felt that way about Jack’s mother at 98. The wonderful memories will be many. Thinking of you all.
