STEADMAN, Andrew Ellerby – Age 63, of Brigden, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at his residence. Beloved husband of Mary C. Steadman (nee Patterson) for 39 years. Loving father of Erica (Chad Carruthers) Steadman, Mark (Jessica) Steadman, Erin (Colin Way) Steadman. Cherished grandfather of Mason. Dear son of Marie (late Lyle, 2004) Steadman. Brother to Norma (Bryan) Hackett, Tom (Carol) Steadman, David (Mary E.) Steadman, Neil (Barb) Steadman, Tony (Tammy Barker) Steadman. Dear son-in-law of Jean (late Raymond, 2016) Patterson, brother-in-law of Tim (Kim) Patterson, Lee (Jan) Patterson, Lori (Laurence) Roy. Survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Andy worked as a Paramedic for 30+ years and was a licenced Funeral Director for 38 years. He operated Steadman Brothers Brigden and District Ambulance Service and Parkway Ambulance Service until 2000 then took over Steadman Brothers Funeral Home with his brother Dave from 2000-2016. Andy’s hobbies included washing and waxing cars, tinkering in the garage, cutting grass and picking up stones.

VISITATION
Family and friends will be received at the BRIGDEN FAIR EXHIBITION HALL on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 1-4 and 7-9pm.

PRIVATE SERVICE
A private family service will be held at STEADMAN BROTHERS FUNERAL CHAPELS, Brigden. Interment to follow at Bear Creek Cemetery.

DONATIONS
In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to Brigden United Church or Legacy Lappers (family/friends cancer fundraising team).

  7. My thoughts are with you in this sad time. I first met Andy at the Funeral Service Program at Humber College back in 1980. He was a great guy and told me different stories about being on the Ambulance. The one I remember best was about how he dressed up the Ambulance with chrome rims to personalize it, kind of like the old movie “Mother, Jugs & Speed”. I believe he was telling the truth because it was a great story. Used to see him at Post Grad every 5 years until that was discontinued. A number of years ago I was privileged to meet Mark at a Funeral Directors Conference and was able to get updates on Andy. He was a fine man and will be missed.

  14. Steadman family . My heart is broken hearing the news of Andy’s passing on Wednesday. The community has lost an amazing person. My career as a paramedic started with the Steadman’s. Andy has taught me compassion, respect and to treat everyone with dignity. I am the person today because of Andy’s influences. Andy was just not my boss but more like a brother.
