  6. When I was a girl my Mother (Marion Walker Sundquist, Jim and Barney’s cousin in New Buffalo, Michigan) drove me to Brigden to meet the “Canadian relatives.” I remember when Belle and I first met. She greeted me warmly, with an enthusiastic hug, a sweet laugh and smile, and before I even entered the old farm house she asked “are you hungry?” When I think of my visits to Brigden since then, the last in about 2009, I always think of Belle’s sweet laughter and caring heart. She was kind and giving, and made us all (me, my mom, and in later years my husband Dan and our children Anna and Nelli) feel welcomed as family. She will always be cherished in our happy memories of visits to Brigden.
