SYER, Lyle Emerson – Age 90 of Petrolia, passed away at Bluewater Health, Sarnia on Thursday, May 29, 2014. Beloved husband of Helen Margaret (McLean) Syer for 62 years. Loving father of Arnold (Ruth) Syer and Christine (Lee) Bright. Dear grandfather of Erin, Kami and Kevin Syer, James and Jennifer Bright. Cherished great-grandfather of 10. Predeceased by his parents Alfred and Lyla (Gorman) Syer, brother Keith (Betty) Syer and cousin Doreen Berger.
MEMORIAL SERVICE
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St. Paul’s United Church, Petrolia (corner of Petrolia Line and Centre Street) at 3:00pm. A private family graveside will take place at Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia.

Lyle will be deeply missed. You are in our thoughts Helen and family. We enjoyed having him next door to us. He will be with you forever in your heart. He was a good man.

I always enjoyed talking to Lyle at the reunions…he was a practical
man but loved to tell stories and a very keen listener.
I always thought he was wise and many times I would learn
something new about life from him after our long talks.
Lyle was larger than life.
I always enjoyed my talks with Lyle at the family reunions.
He was a man who loved to tell stories and would listen patiently and
keenly to others tell theirs…he had such practical wisdom about life a great laugh and sense
of humour. There was nobody I knew quite like him. I always would learn something valuable and important about living after spending a few minutes talking with Lyle.

I’ll always remember Lyle for his big hugs and his creative inventions. I’ll miss seeing him at the family reunion and visits to Petrolia.

I am sorry that Lyle has left us but pleasant memories of long reunion conversations will remain with so many of us.
Especially with we the older ones in Gordon’s family . We had a few chuckles as he would refer to Angus as a 21 Roy as a 24 and me as a 28 without the 19 in front. We will always have fond memories of Lyle.
