THOMAS picTHOMAS, James Gordon – Age 76, of Sombra, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Bluewater Health, Sarnia. Beloved husband of Kay Thomas (nee Wimmer) for 55 years. Loving father of Carol Andrews (Terry Richardson), Kevin Thomas (Lori Cook), Kari Salisbury (Tex), Kelly Thomas (Ida) and Tina Goetheyn (Doug). Cherished grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 19. Dear brother of Peggy Dillinger. Predeceased by his parents Gordon Charles Thomas and Annie Mabel Thomas (nee Moffit), siblings Lorraine (Dodi) Hofmann, Bill Thomas, Kathleen Baumann and Angela Munro.

VISITATION
Family and friends will be received at STEADMAN BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, Brigden on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 1:00 to 4:00pm.

SERVICE DETAILS
A private family interment of ashes will take place at a later date at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Sombra.

DONATIONS

  1. We are sorry to hear about Jim. He was always a fun guy to be around always smiling. Jim was like a big brother. Will never forget him singing & playing the spoons. Love to Kay and family. Our prayers and hugs sent your way.

    Jim worked for my father for many years and I spent a lot of time with him as I was growing up. He had a saying for just about every occasion; some of those I still use today so his memory lives on. Jim and Kay lived in a small house and when we found out she was expecting for Tina my mother asked where they were going to put all of those kids. His answer was, ” We’ll hang them from the ceiling in bushel baskets!”
    He liked to sing and I also remember going to various functions to watch him perform.
    After my father bought the family farm I would often visit with Gordon, Mabel, and Paul. They always welcomed me into their home and Mabel always had a cookie or a cup of coffee on a cold day. They were, by all accounts, true country people who didn’t have much but were generous with what they had; their wisdom, their honesty, and above all, their time.
