1931 ~ 2025

YOUNG picDonald “Don” Young, age 93 years, passed away surrounded by family, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Beloved and devoted husband of 62 years to Teresa (DeGurse) Young. Loving father to Joseph (Elizabeth) and Anne Marie (Kenneth).

Adored grandchildren are Eryn, Sarah and Michael. Dear brother of Margaret and brother-in-law to Stephanie, Joanne and Mary. Predeceased by his parents, Russell and Ida Young, parents-in-law, Frank and Helen DeGurse, sister, Anne, sister-in-law, Mary, and brother-in-laws, Blake, Bruce, Joe, Jim, Tom and Bert. Don was an inspiring role model to all generations of his family.

Don was a very dedicated volunteer to his community and received several service awards. Don was always generous to help others. Don was a 4-H Leader, Member, Board Member, Vice-President, President and Past President of the Moore Agricultural Society with service of over 75 years. Don designed and built the arch on the North Main Entrance at the Brigden Fairgrounds. Also, Don volunteered with the Canadian Diabetes Association (Diabetes Canada) and coached baseball.

Don had a very strong work ethic. Don was a welder and pipefitter and a member of Local 663 for 63 years. Don taught welding at Lambton College and encouraged and helped many to learn how to weld.

Don was a life long farmer on the family farm, just as Dad wanted. A true gentleman, Don was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Donations to Bluewater Health Foundation Cancer Clinic or St. Joseph Church Building Fund (Corunna, Ontario) would be appreciated.

Visitation on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 3-7 pm and Friday, July 18, 2025 from 3-7 pm with Prayers at 6:45 pm by Father Ray Lawhead.

A Celebration of Life will take place at St. Joseph Church, Corunna, Ontario on Saturday, July 19, 2025 with Words of Remembrance at 10:45 am followed by Mass at 11 am. Father Dan Vere will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.

    I recall how he appreciated the efforts of my Dad, Uncle Bob McBean and others who came together and helped reclaim house bricks from your explosion. Don was a true gentleman.

  13. so sorry to hear this. spent many years working with Don in the Jr Fair building. Had to make sure those soybeans looked good. one great person

  14. Don was very kind and gracious. I remember seeing him in the Brigden Credit Union many years back and we were both making our matchable Agricorp deposits! He said .. can’t beat THAT deal! Such a nice person.
