YOUNG, Marlene Marie – Peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, January 8, 2024 at University of Alberta Hospital, Marlene Marie Young passed away at the age of 82. Beloved wife of the late Bruce Edmund Young (2001). Loving mother of the late Jim Young (Cheryl), Stacey (Mark) Hagen and Dana Young. Cherished grandmother of Jamie (Spencer) Dalgety, Scott (Markie) Young, Erin Young, Jeremy (Vanessa) Hagen, Tim and Eric Hagen, Zander and Rylee Kerr. Treasured GG of Austin and Sommer Dalgety, Brody Young, Lily and Colby Hagen and Madison Young. Dear sister to Pat (late Doug) Piggott and Bob (Karen) Atkinson. Predeceased by her parents Don and Lilly Atkinson, sisters Helen (Jim) Paulley, Donna (Bill) Robson and brother Bill (Eva) Atkinson. Marlene enjoyed supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sports and clubs, traveling, Nascar and her gossip magazines. She will be missed by brother Bob (Karen) and Pat at their afternoon lunches, sister-in-law Doreen Lambert and their afternoon visits, lifelong friends Audrey Joyce and Karen Antoine and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

  10. Last time I saw and spoke was shortly after Jim had passed . As the eldest daughter you said your mom was part of your care routine now. Tremendous strength to carry on in times of passing and raising a family too. Many memories with many friendship with bonds will keep your life’s journey on track for sure. Sympathy to all family and friends in extended relationships. A community in long standing that have stood in support of one another grounded and formed. May 2024 be a year with new beginnings on a good start when the time of healing through mourning starts.
