Young PicTeresa Helen (DeGurse) Young, age 88 years, passed away surrounded by family, on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Beloved and devoted wife of 62 years to the late Donald “Don” Young (July 1, 2025). Loving mother to Joseph (Elizabeth) and Anne Marie (Kenneth). Cherished grandchildren are Eryn, Sarah and Michael. Special aunt to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Dear sister-in-law to Stephanie, Joanne, Mary and Margaret. Predeceased by her loving parents, Frank and Helen DeGurse, parents-in-law, Russell and Ida Young, sister, Mary, brothers, Joe, Jim and Tom, sister-in-law, Anne and brother-in-laws, Bert, Blake, and Bruce. Teresa was an inspiring role model to all generations of her family.

Teresa instilled the values of hard work and the importance of education. Teresa was a dedicated, professional and beloved teacher for 31 years.

Teresa was always generous to help others. Teresa was a life-long member of St. Joseph Church, Corunna, Ontario. Teresa was a member and volunteer with the St. Joseph Church Catholic Women’s League (Corunna, Ontario), Moore Agricultural Society and Canadian Diabetes Association (Diabetes Canada). Teresa received several community service awards.

A person of great faith, love of family, strong work ethic and inspiring courage, Teresa was loved by all and will be tremendously missed.

A special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital Acute Care of Bluewater Health.

Donations to St. Joseph Church Building Fund (Corunna, Ontario) or Bluewater Health Foundation Cancer Clinic would be appreciated.

Visitation at Steadman Brothers Funeral Chapels on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 3-7 pm with Prayers at 6:45 pm by Deacon Chuck Stevens. A Celebration of Life will take place at St. Joseph Church, Corunna, Ontario on Saturday, August 30, 2025 with Words of Remembrance at 10:45 am followed by Mass at 11 am. Father Ray Lawhead will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.

  4. Anne Marie & Family, I’m so sorry for what you & your family are going through. Losing your Dad & now your precious Mom. I was so honoured to be able to share with your Mom just how much I appreciated her over the years, at your Dads visitation. She was the strength that I needed in all my kids going to Kindergarten. Her warm & loving demeamour made it easy to transition from home to school. Mrs Young has been a topic around our table for years & will continue to be. All the kids stories of her & her sweet ways. She made a difference in our lives & we are forever grateful for knowing her. May God comfort your family & give you peace as you mourn such a loss. Our mothers are so precious.   14. Mrs. Young… that’s the name I’ll always remember. My kindergarten teacher. I can only imagine the number of people who refer to her this way. She was a class act. She made every student feel like they mattered. My brother Joshua and Eden both got to have her as their teacher as well. What a life of impact! We all were just talking about her and so thankful for her life. She reminds me you don’t have to be famous or fancy to have a massive influence in this world. Her Legacy lives on in all of us. Thanks Mrs. Young for your life.
