Card, William

October 11, 1947 - November 06, 2016

obit-picCARD, William Gerald – It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William Gerald Card “Bill” on November 6. 2016 at the age of 69 years. Bill lived in Wilkesport Ontario with his beautiful wife and best friend of 49 years Mary (Jackson). He is the Son of Ellen (Shephard) and the late William Card. Bill was the proud and devoted father of Gerald (Amy), Bonnie, Brian (Jennifer), and Barbara (Matt). Loving Grandpa to ShariAnn and Katelyn, Ellen and Jack. Bill was also Great Grandpa to 4 little ones. Youngest brother to Arlene (George), Patsy (Jim), Joe (Bev), Jim (Janet), and Nancy (Bruce). Brother in law of the late Wilfred (Vie), and Ed (June). Bill was a dedicated Electrician for over 4 decades and a long standing member of the IBEW. He spent his career leading by example and was a mentor to all who had the privilege to work with him. Bill loved animals and shared his passion with his family and friends as well as the community. He spent the last few years of his retirement sharing his days with seniors and children taking them on wagon rides. Bill loved to see the smiles on their faces and hearing their memories when they drove through town. He was always there to lend a hand to everyone in need. It was always about everyone else. That was what brought him joy. Bill touched so many lives and it was an honour to all that knew him. May we cherish the blessing of knowing such a Great Man by always being Humble and Kind and remember the greatest gift we can give is that of ourselves.

Please join the family to celebrate the Life of Bill at the Brigden Fairgrounds on Thursday November 10th from 6 to 9 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that in honour of Bill’s love for children, that you can either buy new children’s winter clothing or donate cash at the hall in order to purchases the clothing for local kids.  Donations can also be made to any local children’s charities in Bill’s memory.
