On Sunday June 28, one month after celebrating his 95th birthday, DONALD EDGAR PIERCE slipped quietly from the presence of his beloved family into the arms of his Heavenly father.  There he has joined his parents Edgar and Mabel Pierce, his sister Norma Jean Miller, and precious daughter Brenda Jean Pierce.

His legacy lives on through those left behind…

  • His cherished wife of 71 years Donna Evelyn Pierce
  • His loved daughters and sons-in-law Cheryl Pierce Cassin, Laurie and Mike McAndrew, and Lisa and Steve Symons
  • His adored grandchildren J.J. Cassin, Mallory Cassin and Rob Medeiros, Christopher and Kathy Symons, Shauna Balger and Aaron Tregear, Ashley and Tom Pye, Jessica and Jamie Bere, and Troy Symons
  • His joyful great grandchildren Wyatt, Ethan, Ayden, Nixon, Teresa, Charlie, and Parker
  • also fondly remembered by Moira (McAndrew) Vince, Kyle McAndrew, and Alanna (McAndrew) Laface and their families.

Don met the love of his life, Donna, at a dance in Watford, Ontario.   Together they built a house on the 4th Concession of (then) Moore Township on his parents’ farm just outside Brigden, and raised their family of four girls there.  He stewarded the land and livestock alongside his Dad, and also worked at Polymer/Polysar.   In later years Don and Donna would move to Brigden, then on to Petrolia.

For the past four-plus years, Don found his home at Lambton Meadowview Villa (Petrolia), where he received exceptional attention from a caring staff and many residents and families who became his ‘second family’.

Don was an active member of Brigden United Church, a dedicated volunteer at the Brigden Fair, a founding member of the Legacy Lappers team, and lifetime member of I.O.O.F.

 Don deeply loved his wife and family, and thrived most when visiting with people (or relaxing in a chaise lounge).

His favourite places were anywhere his family and friends were, sitting by the St. Clair River watching the ships pass by, behind the wheel of a Ford tractor, at the Red Coconut (Fort Myers Beach, Florida), or at Lambton United Church Centre.  He enjoyed dancing a good waltz or polka, beating his kids at a game of cards, teasing and joking, gospel music, milkshakes, and pumpkin pie with ice cream and real maple syrup.

A visit in recent years would not be complete for him until he had told us “I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH.”…something he made sure we all knew through his words and actions.
…we knew, Donald…..we knew you loved us…

VISITATION
Family and friends will be received at STEADMAN BROTHERS FUNERAL CHAPELS, Brigden on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00pm.

FUNERAL
Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 2:00pm from the funeral home.

INTERMENT
Interment to follow at Bear Creek Cemetery.

DONATIONS
Sympathy may be expressed through donations to L.C.D.S., Brigden United Church or the charity of your choice.

    I was shocked to hear of Don’s passing when I went to play piano at Meadowview church this morning and asked Ellen,”Don and Donna not here this morning?”
    I will miss seeing Don and Donna and chatting with Donna before church about life from wild blueberries for muffins instead of regular ones to hearing her inspiration about her life and history.
    She is an inspiration to me.

  52. Donna and your Entire Families, i was so saddened to hear about my good friend Don. I only knew Don the last few years as he went to our Day Program at LMV and eventually ended up in the Nursing Home where i continued to visit him . Don was quite a card and loved to talk and was amazing at trivia while he was with us ! He was very sharp and was usually right 9 times out of 10 lol . Don loved to joke around with us all and was a book of knowledge. Don loved his Family and would talk about them often they were his world especially His wife Donna which came every day to visit him. May Don rest peacefully now in the arms of our Lord Jesus and be reunited with his precious daughter Brenda in the heavenly kingdom. I will always have special memories of Don not only through church music but from many visits and lunches together. And thank you Don for the many rides you gave me to church once you had moved in to Petrolia.
